7/5/12. It is with a heavy heart that I give the following update. On June 29th, after a spirited battle against pancreatic cancer lasting over 2 years, Oi Yin has earned her angel wings. Please keep her children, family, and fiance in your prayers during this difficult time. Oi Yin's Life Celebration Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 14th, 2012 at 11:00 at Fairview Village Church (3044 W. Germantown Pike, Norristown, PA 19403). At request of her family, in lieu of flowers, you may choose to donate in memory of Oi Yin Gonzalez to: For Pete's Sake Cancer Respite Foundation (click for info) Some of you have asked about donating for the benefit of her children, Sienna and Derek. Since then, Oi Yin has been a pillar of strength to help her children, Sienna (10) and Derek (7) get through that tragedy.
Now, while rebuilding her life, rekindling her career and once again finding love, Oi Yin is fighting for her own life. Sadly, she has been diagnosed with stage III pancreatic cancer and needs our love and support now more than ever. |

If you've ever met Oi Yin, you are instantly taken by her contagious smile, quick wit and spunky style. Those of you who have the good fortune to be close to Oi Yin, know she is strong in her convictions, devoted to her children, and truly possesses a heart of gold. When her doctors said chemotherapy was in her near future, one of her first thoughts was "I need to donate my hair to 'Locks of Love' now, while it's still healthy!" And she did. Because she only recently returned to work, her bank of sick days is sparse. But even facing this frightening diagnosis, she was reluctant to accept the generosity of anonymous co-workers who wished to donate their sick time to her. She feared there may be someone who needed those days more than she did. These stories are just a glimpse of Oi Yin's amazing spirit. Make no mistake about it, Oi Yin is not ready to throw in the towel. She is a fighter with boundless courage and 100% focus on one goal: the benefit of her children. She and her family have a tough battle ahead including an aggressive regimen of chemo and radiation. Adding to this stress is the fact that her health insurance is limited.
